My pics for the week

I had said earlier that I wanted to take at least 1 pic per day, mostly for myself to see what I've done during the week, but also just to share with you and possibly even challenge you to do the same.  I knew I didn't want to post a blog post every day just to share my daily pictures.  I don't have a big enough nor loyal enough blog following to attempt that move.  So, I decided to try and post my weekly pics on Friday.  That way I feel I've shared my pics and my life with you and made you smile...or laugh...or unsubscribe from my blog...well, hopefully not the last one. I need followers for my blog!

Alix got a picture from my brother that he drew for her
I got some crayons out and colored a picture to send to my nephew, Ryan.  I always loved to color with a brand new set of sharpened crayons.

Calling in sick. I have Royal Wedding fever.

Tomorrow is the big day-The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Given that this is the most talked about story world wide, (outside of the horrendous tornadoes in AL and MS  yesterday) I'm sure you already knew that.  I've been made fun of by some and others think it utterly ridiculous that I think it is so exciting.  That's ok.  I don't mind. It happens once every 30 years so if that's as often as people think I'm ridiculous then I think I'm doing pretty good with my life!

A Lost Art

Snapshots of the day:

The lost art of letter writing. How many of you actually write out letters anymore?  Don't most of us just send an email or a text message? Truthfully, that is how I mostly communicate with friends and family but there are a few special people who get actual hand-written letters from me :) If you haven't sent a personal card or written a letter to someone in a while, dust off pen and paper and give it a try!

Who knew about strawberry marshmallows and didn't tell me?!  I didn't even realize they existed until reading on this recipe the other day.  My daughter had pointed out pink marshmallows before but I thought it was just a colored marshmallow, not flavored!  They're pretty good if you like marshmallows!  To add Nutella to the mix only sweetens the deal.

So, go in, write me a letter and then mail me some chocolate covered strawberry marshmallows, k?!

Snapshots of my Day

I had this bright idea to try to take at least one picture a day of something to remember the day by.  Realization that time is moving by very quickly caused me to want to try to slow it down a little by capturing it in pictures.  Luckily you, my blog readers, get to be the guinea pigs and walk through this idea with me!  Don't bail on me, ok?!  I'm still going to continue with my apps and coffee quips because that is what I love to do.  But as an outlet for my photographic genius I decided to use my blog instead of using facebook.  My hope is to grow my blog but isn't that everyone who blogs hope is?!

Ok, so now that I have that out of the way here are 3 pics of my day today.

The pic above is of my new Vera Bradley laptop "skin".  I LOVE all things Vera Bradley.  I think her patterns are fun and her purses have a bunch of pockets to keep me organized. The purses aren't everyone's personal style because they are bright, big colorful patterns but they definitely work for me!

Today I got to spend the afternoon with a couple of friends making cotton candy for our church's Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday.  Mike and I usually help make cotton candy for the Fall Festival our church does around Halloween.  It's always fun, but then again, I love cotton candy!  The afternoon cotton candy making was a good, sugary way to break up the afternoon :-)
Now it makes sense  why I was so jittery all afternoon!  Sugar, baby!!
I took the pics with my android phone using the Vignette Demo app using a couple of different effects and grungy frame.  I'm trying to make the most of the camera on my phone so I'll be experimenting with various apps.  If only I had the Instagram app that's only available on the iPhone :-?

My Gadgets

Seeing as I have started a blog on gadgets & coffee (a name that was in the running for this blog!) I thought I'd show you what tech gadgets I use every day.  I'm thankful for what I have.  It may not seem like much to most or it may seem like most to some (huh?!) but for it all I am thankful.

Sound Hound - Android AND iPhone app

Ok, so I started telling you about Sound Hound, one of my favorite apps on my Android phone.  It's a song recognition app that proves itself very awesome useful time and time again. Just to get you up to speed, when I had my Blackberry Curve, I actually purchased the Shazam app for my phone.  I would find myself listening to the radio or out somewhere listening to a song and want to know who sang it or what was the name of the song.  At times I knew the song from back in the day but couldn't place a group with the song.  See, I wasn't suppose to listen to "mainstream" radio when I was growing up so I really have no idea how I know some of these songs as I was such an obedient child and only listened to what my parents told me to listen to. And now you can stop laughing at the thought of my being an obedient child all of my life :-)

One Free Android App a Day!

Showing some more Android App love today by sharing something I mentioned on facebook the other day.  Amazon now has and Android AppStore.  You can look for apps on the website and have them downloaded to your phone or you can use the downloadable Android AppStore on your handheld device.  When you visit the site on your home computer you'll notice in the upper right corner that you need to download the app to your phone. (must be a registered Amazon member first, but who isn't these days?!)

When you enter your email address, open the email on your phone and click the link in the email for the download. Once you've downloaded the app you can then choose whether to look for apps on your phone or on the computer.  If I'm at home I usually look on the computer and then download them to my phone, that way I'm not using precious battery time looking for apps.

Rangers Opening Day 2011

Opening day for the Texas Rangers baseball team in Arlington is today.  There's an excitement in the air around the metroplex.  I'm excited about the start of the baseball season.  I've always liked baseball and really enjoy going to the Rangers games, however when you live in TX during baseball season, it's scorchingly hot to go to the games so we don't go too often.  But last year when the Rangers were going through all of the playoff series games leading up to the World Series, I began watching all of the games on TV. I got to know the batting lineup and who the closing pitchers were.  It was the Claw & Antler year. Although the Rangers didn't win the World Series, it was exciting nonetheless because part of the World Series games were played in Arlington.  We were very proud of our Texas Rangers.  The excitement and anticipation has carried over from the fall to this season and we've got our fingers crossed that they will go all the way again.
